From Romania: an ecumenical prayer
On the evening of the 23rd February 2008, an eventual celebration was held at our parish, "Blessed Jeremiah Valahul". The whole citizenship of Navodari was present together with the mayor and the civil authorities of the town.
The relic of the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ which is normally kept in Jerusalem, is being carried in all the parishes of the catholic diocese of Bucuresti, was for some days in our parish fo r the adoration of the faithful. All the people of the parish were mobilised to receive in a most worthy way this symbol of our Christian faith.
Thanks to fr Nicolaie Fracas, the parish priest of the catholic parish of Navodari, the two christian communities, catholic and orthodox joined together in prayer. The first joint prayer meeting was held in the orthodox church dedicated to the Annunciation (Bunavestir e).
Fr Nicolaie together with two orthodox priests of the Orthodox Church received the relic form Mgr Ghenta from the parish of St. Anthony of Constance. We procedeed in procession towards the orthodox church
where Parinte Constantin, addressed the faithful gathered on the mystery
of our Lord's Passion - Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
During this celebration the expression "dear christian brothers" addressed to the catholics present was pronounced for the first time in a spirit of ecumenism. Mgr Ghenta then in his address explained how the relic reached us and also gave a detailed sermon about its identity.
