An infinite horizon: Mother Rubatto, by Paolo Damosso, Paulines Editions

The narrative style is like a  novel on the life of a strong, courageous and faithful religious woman,  blessed Mary Frances of Jesus, AnnMarie Rubatto (Carmagnola 1844-Montevideo 1904), she learned to be docile to God, to discover and lead her life with a total abandonment along the paths which the Lord traced for her in her life. She founded at Loano, in the region of Liguria, Italy, the Institute of the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on the 10th October 1993 in Rome.

Paolo Damosso, the director (NOVA-T): makes of her life an event of our time

"Perhaps it is a prime that a religious congregation publishes a book a doubel dvd and a website together. It is a wonder of the means of comunication which was programmed from some years and at the same time makes use of the latest techniques. As for the book, I have written the scenes for the film which I would like to make it a reality. I like to write biographies in the form of a novel. Her life fits very much for this and I try to make them going through them myself. I am free in that way even to create dialogues and certain situations, though I try to abide as possible by the main traits of her life. I can imagine what a fatigue to write a book on a foundress of a sisters' institute and how it is to overcome some preconceived ideas.
My wish is to make a person who finds it hard to read a book, to read this book. It is useless to refer all the time to the same persons, one needs to open up. I know of a reader who after reading the first few pages  of a book  with much reluctance, then is hit by some few lines and ... finishes up reading the book without realizing. For me this would be something extraordinary!  I would like to surprise the reader with a fluent style, especially for those who do not like to read.

This is even the reason why I am using all the time the actions in the present, as if these are happening right now and not in the past. I think that stories about Mother Rubatto, which is rendered as actual to our time, are more than ever actual and interesting! I am very happy especially as it happened this morning a lady who read the book told me: I really was surprised by the style of the book! Because of this I read it at one go. That is what I really want: the effect of surprise to the reader!"

Sister Gabriella Preda (General Superior): the mass media are our mission land.

For the publication of the DVD  on the life of Mother Rubatto, the General Superior of the Capuchin Sisters, Sister Gabriella Preda gave us the following declaration:

"For us the Capuchin Sisters the means of communication are very important more than ever. We think that it is not our competence to produce it ourselves. That is why we have sought the competence of professionals in this delicate terrain. We have been in contact withl NOVA-T for long. This is a group with a lot of competence and experience in this field and together with us they share our values. Now this is the fifteenth year that we realize together with them various works, becasue even the means of communicaitons require continuity in this field.

As in other things we can't stop, we have to move ahead to the times. The mass media are a mission land and we are making use of these means  to produce the book, a dvd and our webseite on the internet adjourned so that we can reach a vast public in an efficacious way and enjoyable way."
